If you are wondering where to travel next, you need to take a look at Lagos, Portugal. Here are 7 reasons why:
Why You Need To Put Lagos On Your Bucket List
1. Perfect Beaches
Portugal has some of the best beaches in Europe. The beaches are so stunningly gorgeous that you will feel like you are in a dream when you see them. Beach caves connect some of the beaches, while towering cliffs surround you in a hug from the Universe. The sand is the perfect softness and the aquamarine waters will leave you feeling soothed in a way that not even spa treatments could do. In fact, I consider the beaches of Lagos to be some of the best beaches in the world.
2. Jaw-Dropping Hiking Paths
Lagos has some of the most jaw-dropping views that you’ve ever seen. Jagged cliffs tower over the crashing waves and there’s no better way to see them than to hike them. I recommend hiking with the West Coast Adventure Company if you want to see the hidden spots of Lagos and beyond.
3. Remarkable Sunsets
I saw some of the most extraordinary sunsets of my life in this western corner of Portugal. Somehow the light here was more ethereal, and I saw sunset colors I had never seen before.
4. Scrumptious Food
Lagos also had a spectacular choice of food. I soon got tired of the mainly cod-based Portuguese diet, and enjoyed all the international food that was available. I ate delicious Mexican, Indian, and incredible seafood. Whatever you do, don’t leave Lagos without trying the Porto gelato from Crema di Gelato. It was some of the best gelato I’ve ever had in my life! For tips on what to eat in the Algarve, read this article.
The Portuguese were very gifted at making what was some of the best sangria I’ve ever had. Fruity and refreshing without being too sweet, it was the perfect remedy for a hot day.
6. The Waves
Lagos is a haven for surfers. With perfect waves and plenty of beaches to choose from, this is a spot you don’t want to miss.
7. The People
The people were warm and friendly, and it was also easy to meet other travelers. I stayed at the Bura Surfhouse, and it was full of warm and friendly people who made my visit to Lagos that much more fun. I’ll never forget my time in Lagos, and I can see why many people who visit wind up never leaving.
