As if we needed any more reasons to love elephants… Footage of a baby elephant distracting his human friend from his work so he can play is one of the cutest videos we’ve seen in, like, forever.
We all know that elephants are highly emotionally intelligent and baby elephants are notoriously playful. While elephants are loyal to their herds, this baby elephant has found a new human friend that he wants to play with.
Dan Daeng was doing DIY tasks around the Mae-Sa Elephant Camp in Chiang Mai, Thailand, when he was distracted by an adorable baby elephant. He was giving the bamboo poles a coat of protective paint in preparation for the coming winter when 1-year-old Khunsuk came over.
Khunsuk the baby elephant walked up behind Dan and started to tap him with his trunk. The playful little elephant kept reaching through the enclosure, coaxing his human friend to play with him.
It is impossible not to smile as you watch the adorable baby elephant interact with Dan. It is as if he is saying, “Stop working and play with me, human!”
Elephants are at risk of becoming endangered due to Ivory poaching. The Mae-Sa Elephant Camp dedicate their knowledge and expertise to increasing the population of elephants. They have an elephant nursery where the young elephants can live with their mothers safely. The world would be a very sad place without elephants in it.
I don’t know about you, but if this baby elephant asked me to play, I would drop everything for a playdate. This is one of the most heartwarming videos I’ve seen in a long time. Elephants are the best!
