The Algarve has a lot to offer for people who are looking for luxury and fun in their vacations. There are plenty of things you can do in the Algarve, and there are plenty of places you can go to have fun. Here are some of the things that we think you should do while you’re there.

For those who love sports, the Algarve has a lot to offer. You can go surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing on the beaches. For a little adrenaline-spiced fun, take out a speedy jet ski and ride the waves. Zipping along the coast, with a salty tang on your skin, jet skis are always great summer fun.

If you enjoy golfing, there are many golf courses that you can play at. The Algarve is undoubtedly one of the best places in the world for any golfer seeking a luxurious golf vacation. The Algarve features 40 top-notch golf courses, a Mediterranean cuisine centred on fresh, natural ingredients, a moderate climate for the most of the year, and a large and diverse hotel network. These factors combine to make the Algarve a perfect location for any golfing experience.

There are also many tennis courts and riding stables for those who love horseback riding.

Art & Museums

For those who love museums and art galleries, there are many that you can visit. The Algarve is a region that has been inhabited for more than 100,000 years, and there are many archaeological sites that you can visit. There are also some beautiful churches and castles in the region, which were built during the Reconquista period.

The museums in the town of Aljezur are a part of the cultural, historical and environmental circuit of Aljezur, a 4km long, signalled pedestrian route, in both rural and urban areas. The urban section has a historical-cultural character and several places of interest amongst which are the Municipal Museum, the Museum of Religious Art, the Church of Mercy, Antonian Museum and House-museum of painter José Cercas.

The Municipal Museum, at the Town Hall, has three areas: archaeological area where it shows human presence in the region over 10.000 years ago; the Islamic area as the Arab presence marked Aljezur greatly and the ethnographic area from the late

19th century till the 70’s, highlighting old tools used in agricultural, farming and fishing activities, typical of lives connected to the land and sea. In this area, there is also a recreation of traditional rural spaces such as a bedroom and a typical Algarvian kitchen, decorated with daily use utensils.

A visit to the local museums will make your return home more cultured and you will better understand local cultures!

Regional wine & winemaking

One of the best ways to explore a new region is through its wine, and the Algarve is well known for its wine reputation. It is no news to anyone that Portugal has some of the best wines in the world. What is also not news is that the Algarve’s oldest Wine Estate (Quinta dos Vales) is a famous producer of top-quality wines that enchant every wine-lover.

The winery, located in the western part of the Algarve region, owns an award-winning premium wine cellar, a panoramic terrace, and an authentic garden decorated surrounded with artistic sculptures. What’s more, it offers one of the finest accommodation villas with terraces and two grand swimming pools, combining the taste of Europe’s most quality wines and the wonderful Algarve nature.

And if you  wish  to up  the ante, this Estate also created The Winemaker Experience – an amazing program that turns wine-lovers into wine-makers. Basically, what Quinta dos Vales offers is to guide participants through the full wine-production process, offering them their winery and consultancy, but encouraging them to make their very own wine, to their own preferences. You can learn all about the program here.

If you’re looking for some luxury during your vacation, the Algarve you should definitely consider visiting it and ensure you’ll have fun on your next vacation.
