While I was in Lucerne, Switzerland, I not only saw amazing sites, but I had some fabulous food too! When I think of Switzerland, I think of cheese, chocolate and fondue and we had some of it all! Definitely put these five fabulous places to eat in Lucerne, Switzerland on your itinerary!
Wirtshaus Taube
Wirtshaus Taube is located near the water and offers riverfront seating. They have a great menu selection featuring Swiss cuisine.
If they are trying to get you to stay a while with their views of the river, it works!
I had the “E rise Schweinerei” or Riesen-Cordon Bleu: two big breaded slices of pork, filled with ham and cheese, and french fries. It was SO good! This is one of a few select times of the year that I get to eat french fries (I gave them up over two years ago and only allow myself to eat them when outside of the States) so I was excited about them!
Amanda had the “Chapellbrogg-Röschti” or Chapellbridge-Röschti which is Swiss hash browns with tomato, bacon, cheese, chives and an egg sunny side up! I had a taste and it was yummy!
Dessert for me was a selection of ice cream flavors that included chocolate, vanilla, caramel and stracciatella!
If you are looking for a place to relax with great views and food, then Wirtshaus Taube is your place!
Pfistern
We had lunch one day at Pfistern and again got the amazing waterfront experience! It also had unobstructed views of the beautiful Jesuit Church!
The salad was amazing…
as was the fondue! A real Swiss fondue experience!!
Dessert was just so cute! Cute, colorful and delicious is all you need!
Don’t miss out on Pfistern’s fabulous outdoor experience or the fondue!
Wilden Mann
Dinner at Burgerstube (in the Wilden Mann Hotel) was a fun experience! Featuring traditional homestyle cuisine, it has great food and excellent service!
The interior was so unique and I personally loved its rustic warmth!
An assortment of appetizers…hey, you have to taste it all, right?
For our entrees, we had the Grilled Beef Entrecôte and the “Prince Murat” which was filet of sole.
Dessert was a selection of cheese with homemade fruit bread, chutney and an ice cream selection!
Definitely put Wilden Mann on your list if you are looking for a cozy, friendly place to have great food in a relaxing atmosphere!
Bachmann
Stop in at Bachmann for a great option for an afternoon touring snack! They have several locations throughout Lucerne.
Their macarons are AMAZING not to mention pretty!
Balances
Your food tour of Lucerne definitely isn’t complete without dinner at Balances! It also has waterfront-dining out back on its terrace which provides beautiful views of the Jesuit Church and the Chapel Bridge!
I did the 5-course tasting menu and it started with a duck liver variation with peach and port wine jelly. I think that might have been my first time trying duck liver, but I’m not positive. It was really good!
However, I will be honest and say that this chilled strawberry gazpacho with Canadian lobster and basil croutons is the entire reason I chose the tasting menu!! I. LOVE. chilled fruit gazpacho and it did not let me down!!
Then there was the US beef filet with South African shrimp and port wine butter…
and the grilled filet of sole with an avocado sauce. It’s a good thing this was a “tasting” menu because I was running out of room, but it was too good to stop!
I have to admit the other reason why I might have chosen the tasting menu was for this dessert! Seriously though, who can resist frosty chocolate slices with cherries??
I had to share one more photo of the gorgeous exterior of Balances! It is strikingly beautiful, has a variety of gourmet options and beautiful waterfront scenery. Is it on your list already?
These fabulous places offer a great food tour of Lucerne. Hopefully, you are already putting them on your list!
