Sunset in Lisbon is special and deserves to be appreciated fully. Here is a list of the best spots to see it.
Parque Eduardo VII
This park enjoys a fantastic view over one of the main avenues of the city – the Marquês de Pombal Square and the Liberdade Avenue, all the way down to the Tagus and, on clear days, across it to the other bank.
This is the ideal spot to from which to see the sunset. It used to be called City Park but the name was changed in honour of Edward VII when the British monarch visited in 1903.

Portas do Sol Belvedere
Overlooking the streets of Alfama, from the Portas do Sol Square, the Belvedere offers a magnificent view from the Southern face of the Castle Hill. From this Lisbon terrace you can also see the Church of Saint Vincent and the National Pantheon as well as the Tagus, obviously.
And that is exactly where you need to look to see one of the most gorgeous sunsets in Lisbon, covering it in a special lighting that makes the rooftops of the houses in this typical neighbourhood jump to life.

Ribeira das Naus
Very recently restored, this avenue connects the Cais das Colunas to the Praça do Comércio and the Cais do Sodré. It is said that from here sunset is more impressive than anywhere else in the city. This unique veranda over the Tagus is also an ideal spot for a relaxing end of the afternoon, overlooking the Bridge over the Tagus, just a little further downstream.

Sometimes all you feel like doing is relaxing at the end of the afternoon enjoying the sunset with a drink in your hand. With a terrace facing the river, the SUD offers a stunning view over the Tagus, the boats that navigate it and the bridge in the background. In this elegant spot, Lisbon’s sunset seems even more charming.

The Belém Tower is Unesco World Heritage and was ranked as one of Portugal’s Seven Wonders, so it is a must for anybody who visits. From this vantage point the sunset in Lisbon is absolutely magnificent and bathes the surroundings in tranquility.

São Jorge Castle
One of the most perfect spots for observing a stunning sunset in Lisbon, due to the peace it transmits and the privileged location it is in, overlooking the Alfama houses and downtown Lisbon, all the way down to the river. On clear days the view can carry on beyond the river to the southern margin.

Hotel Mundial Rooftop Bar
In the heart of Lisbon, the Rooftop Bar of the Mundial Hotel is famous for the amazing view and the sunset events that it hosts. The view is panoramic and the cocktail and gin menu is varied, making it the ideal spot for watching the sunset in Lisbon.

If you enjoy exercising, then here is a great spot where you can do so while watching one of the most beautiful spectacles nature has to offer. Taking in a Lisbon sunset while trekking or biking along the river can be a great experience, especially if you do so in the Parque Tejo, the largest green zone of the Parque das Nações, at around 90 hectares. The Vasco da Gama Bridge makes for the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable landscape.

If you want to see the sunset and enjoy a cocktail, then your best option is to visit this bar located on the sixth floor of a parking lot and commanding one of the best views over the city.

Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Belvedere
The former Graça Belvedere is located in the parish of São Vicente, near the Church of the Graça Convent. From here you can appreciate a crushing view over the city, with the São Jorge Castle straight ahead, the rooftops down below and the river on the horizon.
